From spots to stripes – if you’re not in to polkadots, try pinstripes. Don’t like leopard spots, switch to candy stripes. There’s a stripe for any occasion – just look at Marc Jacobs for inspiration* [Marc Jacobs SS’13 at New York Fashion Week, pictured above]. Stripes don’t have to be black and white – choose neons or bright pinks and blues for a 2013 remake – and don’t be afraid to try different kinds of stripes. Especially don’t be afraid of horizontal stripes; the myth about looking bigger is completely unfounded, as they actually loop all your curves and accentuate your best bits! Too afraid to go head-to-toe in stripes? These Warehouse trousers are perfect for officewear or a night out, or simply accessorise with stripes (try the New Look clutch, or dip in to my favourite place, Accessorize).
