It was truly a magical collection at Peter Pilotto this London Fashion Week… think ice queens, and mermaids, and a reaffirmed status as master of peplum.
This season, the peplums became frilled edges to boxy jackets – that seem to be the start of a summer trend – and partnered with slim trousers, racer vests or dresses. Despite the bejewelled textures, Peter Pilotto stuck with his sporty signature, easing from black and white to carefully selected colours in a palette of mosaic neons.
“I loved the shapes, they were so grown-up and polished. It really moved on this season – all those different textures, the skirts with those hemlines, the way everything moved was incredible.” — Sarah Harris, Vogue
Peter Pilotto and Christopher de Vos were inspired by Florentine frescoes and used it with geometric, abstract motifs to create gentle silhouettes and backgrounds of beads and mirrors to offset an overall shimmering SS’13.
