It was a womens Wimbledon of days gone by at David Koma this season. But, as with any David Koma collection, it was not without its fashion forward-thinking.
Tennis dresses were no longer innocent white things, but neater, bodycon dresses in daring shades of emerald green, cobalt blue, black and acid-bright orange. T-shirt dresses had pleats dropped just below the waist, as every tennis dress should, and reworked with intricate beading. It wasn’t just tennis the inspiration – bold shoulders gave a nod to American football – though it always returned to the tennis ball and net prints, in smooth lines that gave hourglass silhouettes – flattering for every shape.
Shoes were carefully matched with the style and colour of the clothes they came with – no clashing here – and were sturdy heels with wide straps, reflecting the net print.
It was a distinctly textured and preppy feel to David Koma SS’13, with bold strides into the fashion future.
