If anyone is mistress of print, it’s got to be Mary Katrantzou. This lady does things with print that no one ever dreams of – and has the fashion following to show it; with standing-room only for this fresh and clean SS’13 collection.
Prints this year came in the shape of money, stamps and flowers, with a predominant blue and green feel. Against blistering white backgrounds, with the odd metallic pastel, the prints glistened down the catwalk, in complete contrast to the intense drama of her AW’12 collection.
Silhouettes came in to play as well – almost a print shape in themselves – with A-line dresses that cut in sharp lines down from halter necks, deep pockets, and narrow trousers teamed with boxy blouses. Later it was bowling shirts and metallic brocade tailoring. The whole thing was a breath of fresh, summery air.
