NYFW Roundup: Day Five

Definitely a favourite from Day Five is Marc Jacobs – one of the best designers of all time in my opinion. Ultra fashion-forward, you never know what to expect from a Marc Jacobs show, you just know it’s going to be good.

This season, peel away those layers and polkadots from the last couple of collections, and go for simple stripes. No more exploration of fabrics, the models came through revolving doors, in circus stripes both horizontal and vertical, from black and white to candy stripes. Some embellishments still prevailed – ruffled collars, scalloped hems and even a Mickey Mouse midriff. The collection blended seamlessly into Sixties, psychedelic checkerboard, houndstooth, and even leopard spots.

The clean, refreshing style continued with striped box bags and kitten heels or flats. And, as Vogue says: “Like all of us, there is no one Marc Jacobs, but many, a product of the environment in which he exists and changing from one moment to the next, and his work is just an extension of who he is…right now, at least. So what will next season hold for Mr. Jacobs? Nobody knows, probably not even him.”
